  1. Get Google Analytics Tracking ID

Get Google Analytics Tracking ID

 First, login to your Google Analytics account. If you don’t have an account, visit Google Analytics and get started for FREE.

  • Go to Admin settings from the bottom of the left bar of your Analytics account and then click on Create Account
  • Enter the required information, and click on Get Tracking ID:
  • Accept the Terms of Service Agreement by checking the checkboxes below.
  • Once your account is setup, you will get a Google Analytics tracking code. This code collects data on website’s behavior.

Configure Google Analytics in Magento

  1. If you’re a Magento 1.x user, then go to System → Configurationfrom the admin panel of your store. Select SALES > Google API:
  2. Select Yesfrom the drop-down menu to Enable Google Analytics. Next, insert your Google Tracking ID in the Account Number Then, click the Save Config button.

Configure Magento 2 Google Analytics

  1. If you are a Magento 2.x user, then go to STORES → Configurationfrom the admin panel of your store and hit Google API option listed under SALES
  2. Next, enable the Google APIand paste the GA Tracking Code in the Account Number field. Then, hit the Save Config button to apply the new changes.

Set up Magento Ecommerce Tracking

  1. The ecommerce reports by Google Analytics help you analyze the purchase activity on your Magento 2 store. It allows you to see product/transaction information, average order value, ecommerce conversion rate, purchase time, and other data. To set it up, go to the Admin area of your GA account and tap on ecommerce settings.
  2. Enable ecommerce and turn on enhanced ecommerce reporting. Lastly, click the Save button.
  3. Now, verify that you have setup Magento Google Analytics properly. Launch your store and wait for a few minutes for the traffic data to load in your GA property.
  4. It indicates that you have successfully configured Magento Analytics on your ecommerce store. Your GA is now ready to collect and track data and is ready for advanced ecommerce reporting.
